[frequently asked questions]

Please read the following to answer any questions you may have. If you still have questions, please contact me using the contact page.

Where are you located? Can I come in and pick up a cake or desserts today?

My studio (a licensed and insured kitchen space attached to my home) is located in Murrieta, CA. I am not open to the public or for same day orders. Custom occasion and wedding cakes are available for delivery or appointment-only pickup. The address given on all social media platforms and at the bottom of my website is a private mailbox address only. Please do not go to the address looking for my studio.

Can you make this cake in this photo?

All cakes are made to order. You can browse my portfolio or I can design something unique for you. Any cake ordered from a picture or photo of a cake produced elsewhere can only be reproduced by me as my interpretation of the cake and will not be a replica. Please be aware that copyright also protects some designs and, therefore, cannot be copied.

Do you offer cake tastings?

I only provide cake tastings for wedding cakes at this time. At the time of booking your consultation, please mention if there are any flavors (up to three) you would like to sample. There is a charge for Cake Tasting, which is $45, and will be credited to your order if booked within one week of the tasting date.

How much do your cakes cost?

Cake prices begin at $6 per serving for a simple or naked buttercream cake and go up depending on flavor, decoration, carved cakes, special requests, special allergen needs, etc. Typically, you should plan to spend between $6-$10 per serving for cakes. My standard cake serving sizes are 1"x2"x4" high. Cake serving sizes are estimated. Speciality cakes, carved cakes and method of slicing may affect the total serving number. I will provide cake cutting guides (except carved cakes) with all orders for you to follow to get the ordered servings.

How soon before should I order a cake/desserts?

     • Two-week notice for celebration cakes, paid in full.

     • A two-month notice is needed for wedding cakes, secured with a retainer.

Sometimes I may be able to accommodate a cake at shorter notice depending on my schedule and the design of your cake and the availability of the date, so please contact me to discuss.

Do you need a deposit?

Yes, a non refundable retainer becomes due to once you have placed, checked and confirmed the details of your order. The exception is short notice wedding orders (within 30 days) and celebration orders, in which full payment is required at the time of booking.

Because we are a boutique studio, availability is limited and I only take on a certain amount of events per year. A $200 nonrefundable retainer will be required to secure your event date. The minimum order amount for a Sweet Cheats Cakes wedding is $500. This can be a combination of cake and/or desserts, and can also include any rentals, delivery fee, etc.

Do you do micro/intimate weddings?

Yes, I do take a small number of micro weddings each year depending on availability. Micro weddings must accommodate 50 guests or less and do not require a retainer fee or minimum order amount. To inquire, click HERE

Do you deliver?

Yes, delivery and setup are combined and charged at $1.50 per mile round trip from the Sweet Cheats Cakes studio (in Murrieta, CA) to your wedding venue. This covers my travel, time, and ensures that your cake gets there in one piece.

Do you set up the cake?

If you've opted to have your cake delivered, which is HIGHLY recommended for any cake with more than two tiers, the delivery fee includes setup of your cake and/or desserts.

Can you add fresh flowers to my cake?

Yes, I can add fresh flowers to your cake for a$25 floral placement fee. Please note that some flowers are not suitable for use on cakes. It is your responsibility to ensure that the flowers you chose are safe to come into contact with food.

I have a food allergy.

Please be aware that while your cake may not be made with an allergy product, it will have been prepared in a kitchen where potential allergen products may be used in other cakes and fillings. We cannot guarantee that your cake will be free from all allergen traces. All of the cakes, fillings and icings may contain, or come into contact with, soy, wheat, dairy, nuts, eggs, and any other potential allergen. It is your responsibility to inform your guests of this allergy information. We shall not be held liable for any allergic reaction resulting from consumption of the cake and/or desserts.

I do offer allergen-friendly options for an additional fee.

Are you an inclusive wedding vendor?

Yes, absolutely! All love, bodies, races, genders, abilities and sexualities are welcome here!
